Denmark is a rich country and if you are situated on the sunny side of life you’ll enjoy a high material standard of living. The gap between the rich and the poor has widened throughout the latest 10 or 15 years, but also the poor people in Denmark still have a relatively high material standard of living, compared to the general world population.
Of course the average dane only consume a disappering small part of the worlds ressources compared with the average US american, but even then they consume a much greater part than the average world citizen. So if you are living in a part of the world with lack of everything you know where at least a part of it has gone.
Social security and education
The Social Security system in Denmark is similar to what you would expect to meet in the other Scandinavian and West European countries. Meaning it is still possibly to get medical care and an education – we are talking both general school, high school and university – almost for free. Old people have the chance to be taken care of by the public social security system, and Danes who are unable to take care of themselves due to illness or unemployment also still have the chance to get some support from the society.
It’s all financed by taxes and different kinds of compulsory social security systems.
